Japanese beetles are tommorrow’s Grub as the ad in the newspaper stated and it continued with that they will eggs int the ground and become lawn destroying Grubs.
I think they have a pretty top shell (actually their wings) brown/green and a green “head”. This past week I have found them on our of Rose of Sharon bush. The beetles like the blossoms best. I pick them off and drop them in a jar with water that has detergent mixed in it. They do bite and it stings (voice of experience) so I wear a plastic glove on one hand to pick the little pests off the blossoms. They are very thick on some trees here in Central Illinois. When people spray the trees the beetles fall and off and nearly cover the ground.
The sprays have cause health problems for some people.
While looking for a book I discovered a newspaper clipping in the back of the books. I don’t remember cutting (I usually date the article or clipping that I cut out but didn’t this one). It is something I should try. Getting rid of earwigs on plants: Place 1 inch of soy sauce in a cottage cheese container, top with a thin film of vegetable oil; put on cover. Punch three holes near top of container; set in flower bed or garden. One of the vegetables that the earwigs like is the lettuce plant and I find a number of them when I clean the lettuce. Perhaps it would be best to do this in the spring but I’ll try it this fall.
